This popular course will equip you with the knowledge and practical skills you need to register as an enrolled nurse or create a pathway to university.
Our experienced team of trainers will teach you about anatomy and physiology, communication skills, medical terminology, infection control, legal and ethical issues associated with nursing, nursing patients with complex needs, administering medications, and nursing patients with mental health needs. Our partnerships with Barwon Health, St John of God Hospital, and other healthcare providers also provide excellent work placement and employment opportunities.
This course is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). Upon completing your studies, you will be eligible to register as an enrolled nurse with the NMBA.
400 hours of work placement is required in this course, organised by The Gordon.
Classes are scheduled Monday – Friday | 3 days per week (changing each semester) | between the hours of 8.00am and 8.00pm.
Students can expect to be on campus on average 20 hours per week. Semester breaks will be scheduled into the timetable.

The Diploma of Nursing is predominantly delivered face-to-face in the classroom, with some theoretical classes delivered online through the Zoom platform. The course is structured in this way due to the practical nature of nursing, with online classes to support the theoretically underpinning knowledge.
Successful completion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent – Equivalents can be found on our Entry Requirements page.
Tests must be completed within the past 2 years from applying for this course.

Please note that the listed electives are delivered by The Gordon but you may not need to complete all of these units to successfully complete this qualification. If you have previously completed any of the units of competency relevant to this course, you may be eligible for Credit Transfer (CT).
